The 30 day protest period begins April 23, 2024, the date the Valuation Notices are mailed. Any property owners not receiving a notice by mail will be able to view their 2024 Valuation Information online.
TIP: If your tax amount appears to have doubled, contact the Assessment Department at 251-937-0245 or by email, to inquire about exemptions before filing an appeal.
Filing a Protest
Should property owners disagree with the Valuation Notice, they will have the opportunity, until May 23, 2024, to file a protest. You may submit your protest instantly by using the Online Protest Form, or you may download the 2024 PROTEST FORM and mail to:
BALDWIN COUNTY BOARD OF EQUALIZATION
PO BOX 1389
BAY MINETTE, AL 36507
Please call the Revenue Office at 251-937-0245 with any questions regarding filing a protest or visit any of our offices to obtain a hard copy of the appeal form.
There will be no in person informal interviews this year. In order to keep a constant flow throughout the process, it is imperative that all supporting documentation is submitted with your protest. Supporting documentation could include recent appraisals, information regarding recent comparable sales, income and expense information for commercial properties, photographs, surveys, etc.
After your protest is received, a County appraiser will contact you by phone or email. The appraiser will review any supporting documentation submitted with your protest and will be prepared to discuss the specifics of your protest with you. After the information you provided has been reviewed and discussed, the appraiser and property owner will either agree on a final valuation or the protest will be forwarded to the Board of Equalization.
We will make several attempts to contact you and ask that you respond to calls or emails concerning your protest in a timely manner. If we are unable to reach you, your protest will automatically be forwarded to the Board of Equalization.
Board of Equalization hearings are held at the Revenue Commission office in Bay Minette from June through September 2024. We will mail appointment letters stating the date and time of your hearing with the Board of Equalization.
