District 3 Commissioner Biography

Commissioner Tucker Dorsey grew up in Atlanta and graduated from the Lovett School in 1985 and the University of Georgia in 1989 majoring in Real Estate earning a BBA degree. Dorsey is a member of Phi Gamma Delta fraternity and was involved in several extracurricular activities during his time at the University.

Dorsey had his first paying job at age 15 working for a local grocer. He worked through college in commercial and residential real estate. Upon graduation in 1990, real estate was in a slump, and Dorsey hired on as a production manager for a publishing company, managing the second shift through 1992. Dorsey started an Atlanta home building company in 1991, building affordable homes marketed to first time home buyers.

Dorsey moved to Baldwin County, Alabama in 1994. In 1996, he partnered with a local road builder initiating his residential development career. Dorsey managed the largest residential development entity in Southwest Alabama overseeing land selection, due diligence, planning, zoning, engineering, construction and sales.

Dorsey is married to the former Susan Haynes from St. Simons Island, Georgia, and they have one son. The Dorsey family is active at the 3Circle Church.  An avid snow skier and hunter, Dorsey is also a licensed sports car racer and instructor, as well as an accomplished professional photographer.

Dorsey is honored to serve his second term as the Baldwin County Commissioner from District 3 (Terms are as follows: 2010-2014; 2014-2018), and serves on the regional board of Leadership Alabama (Class XXIV), board of the Red Text Foundation benefiting the Baldwin County Sheriff's Boys Ranch, Baldwin County Strawberry Festival board benefiting the Baldwin County ARC, Honor Flight volunteer and guardian, a board member of the Baldwin County Education Coalition, the Loxley Optimist Club, Mobile Navy League, and participates as a member of the Mobile Chamber of Commerce, as well as the Baldwin County Chambers - Eastern Shore, Alabama Gulf Coast, South and Central Baldwin. Dorsey was recognized as #7 on 2012 Yellow Hammer Local Leaders Top 20 for the State of Alabama, and he serves on the Association of County Commissions of Alabama (ACCA) Legislative Committee and Finance and Taxation Committee.
