The Baldwin County Commission completed the purchase of Live Oak Landing on August 23, 2012, for $3,076,940. The property was funded through Coastal Impact Assistance Program funds totaling $2,546,940 and by the Baldwin County Commission with the use of General Obligation Warrants, Series 2008-B in the amount of $530,000, with a portion of the property being donated to the County.

The purchase of Live Oak Landing provided for the protection and conservation of coastal habitats through preservation and will provide numerous opportunities for educational and recreational activities. Live Oak Landing opened to the public on October 2, 2012, and is adjacent to the Baldwin County Bicentennial Park.
