Coastal Alabama Community College (CACC) is located inside Baldwin County and will be used as an emergency shelter during hurricane season. CACC will be operated and managed by Alabama College System personnel. Baldwin County Emergency Management Agency will not activate this shelter. This shelter will be activated by the Governor’s Office through the Chancellor of the Alabama College System. Shelter openings will be broadcast through public service announcements.

OUTSIDE BALDWIN COUNTY:

The Governor's Office, pursuant to an agreement with the Alabama College System, has made the decision to activate community shelters throughout the State of Alabama as emergency shelters during times of mandatory evacuations in an effort to better prepare the Alabama Gulf Coast for local emergencies. Baldwin County Emergency Management Agency will not activate these shelters. These shelters will be activated by the Governor’s Office through the Chancellor of the Alabama College System. College personnel will operate and manage the facilities. Shelter openings will be broadcast through public service announcements.

In the event of a mandatory evacuation, Baldwin County Emergency Management Agency will coordinate transportation to these shelters.

Not all shelters will open at the same time and will open on an "as needed" basis only. Please stay tuned to local television and radio stations for shelter openings and pick-up locations.
