The Baldwin County Commission has approved changes to the scheduling and meeting locations of the Commission Work Sessions preceding its Regular Meetings each month. Work sessions are held to discuss the regular meeting agenda and for the Commission to set its consent agenda for each meeting. Beginning on November 7, 2023, the Commission Work Sessions and Regular Meetings will be held on the same day.

On Tuesday, October 17, 2023, the Baldwin County Commission, in their role as the Waste Citing Board, voted to approve the Baldwin County Solid Waste Authority’s request to withdraw the application to permit and locate a transfer station adjacent to the Red Hill Landfill. In addition, they voted to approve the request to withdraw the application for the construction and demolition disposal landfill at Red Hill Landfill.

The Fiscal Year 2024 Budget, which started October 1st, was adopted by the Baldwin County Commission on September 28, 2023, after months of work and prioritizing. The $250,133,924 budget is a 3.8% increase over the previous year’s $240,888,740.

Last week at the Alabama Recycling Coalition Conference and Expo in Pelham, AL, the Baldwin County Commission, the City of Gulf Shores, and the City of Fairhope were all presented with Alabama Recycling Fund Grant checks from the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM).
