The Baldwin County Animal Shelter is in urgent need of volunteers. The primary needs at this moment are for volunteers to help with walking the dogs as well as playing with the dogs outside to help them get their daily exercise while also socializing them.

The Severe Weather Preparedness Sales Tax Holiday begins at 12:01AM on Friday, February 24, 2023, and ends at midnight on Sunday, February 26, 2023.

The Baldwin County Highway Department announces that the intersection at County Road 13 and Twin Beech Road (County Road 44) will be impassable to through traffic beginning at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 16, 2023, until Wednesday, December 13, 2023, for the construction of a roundabout.

Beginning on, or around Friday, January 20, 2023 the United States Department of Agriculture, Wildlife Services (USDA - WS) will begin the distribution of approximately 223,800 coated sachet baits containing RABORAL V-RG® oral rabies vaccine (ORV) across a 1,599 square-mile bait zone in Southwest Alabama, targeting raccoons and other wildlife.

The Baldwin County Commission and affiliated agencies will be closed for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays on Friday, December 23, 2022, Monday December 26, 2022, and Monday, January 02, 2023.

Baldwin County Solid Waste has released the schedule for the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. Garbage Collection will run as normal on Monday, December 26, 2022. The billing office and drive through bill-pay will be closed on Friday, December 23, 2022, and Monday, December 26, 2022, and on Saturday, December 24, 2022, all landfills will be closed for the Christmas holiday. Saturday, December 31, 2022, Magnolia Landfill located at 15093 Landfill Drive, Summerdale, AL 36580 will be OPEN for business. The following Baldwin County Landfills will be CLOSED on Saturday, December 31, 2022, in observance of the New Year’s Holiday:

After many months of online surveys and in-person and virtual community meetings gathering feedback from citizens about the needs and wants for future growth in Baldwin County, a draft document of the Baldwin County Master Plan – A Citizen’s Guide to Growth is now available for review, and can be found at www.BaldwinOurVision.com.

The Baldwin County Commission presents its 2nd Annual Holiday Lights Drive-Thru and Christmas Festival at Bicentennial Park. The magical drive-thru experience will open Monday – November 28, 2022, and run through December 29, 2022 (Monday – Sunday, excluding county approved holidays), 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. each night. This event is FREE to the public. Only passenger vehicles will be allowed. Buses, RVs, and other commercial vehicles are prohibited.

The upcoming referendum will decide if the Baldwin County Commission is granted the additional powers available to counties through the Alabama Limited Self-Governance Act. If the citizens of the unincorporated areas of Baldwin County pass the referendum, the County Commission will have the power to address the abatement of weeds as a public nuisance, the control of animals and animal nuisances, the control of litter or rubbish, the control of junkyard areas which create a public nuisance, and the abatement of noise, unsanitary sewage, or pollution creating a public nuisance.
