Baldwin County

Effective January 1, 2012, Alabama Code Section 36-20, pertaining to Notary Publics will change and become law:

All Notary Publics will be commissioned “State at Large”
The Notary Bond requirement will increase from $10,000 to $25,000

Filing Fee: $25.00

Requirements:
Applicant must be a registered voter in Baldwin County and provide proof of residency.
Steps in obtaining Notary Public:

  1. Complete Notary Public Application
  2. Submit application for consideration to Judge of Probate office in Bay Minette
  3. Probate Judge will send applicant an appointment letter upon approval in accordance with the Code of Alabama 1975 Section 36-20-30
  4. Applicant must take appointment letter to an insurance company to obtain a Notary Public Bond of $25,000.00
  5. Bond and $25.00 filing fee must be sent to Judge of Probate Office in Bay Minette
  6. Bond must be signed by applicant and applicants signature must be notarized.
  7. Bond will be recorded by Judge of Probate office.
  8. Notary Public certificate and a billfold card stating applicant’s commission date and expiration date, will be sent to Applicant by mail.
  9. Applicant is responsible for obtaining a notary seal and stamp

Any Forms or Applications may be dropped off at any of the satellite offices in Fairhope, Foley or Robertsdale. They will courier the filings to the Bay Minette office.
