The Personal Property Department of the Baldwin County Revenue Commission is responsible for appraising, assessing and assisting in the collecting of personal property taxes.
There are now four ways to assist you in filing your Business Personal Property Tax Returns. It is only necessary to utilize one of these methods, however if you do not file a return in a timely manner by one of these methods, penalties and interest will be added to your Personal Property Tax Bill.
The four methods are as follows:
Business Personal Property Tax returns may be electronically submitted to Personal Property.
Furniture, fixtures and equipment used in a business must be listed and assessed in the Revenue Commissioner’s office after October1, but no later than December 31 each year.
The Code of Alabama 1975, Tile 40, Chapter 7, Section 22 provides the following:
Failure to file your Business Personal Property Return by the 3rd Monday in January will result in a 10% penalty and fees added to the tax bill.
The Code of Alabama 1975, Title 40, Chapter 7, Sections 55-59, also provides some guidance regarding these methods.
