Permit/Learners License are issued by the Public Safety Division of the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA)
ALEA requires Applicants to Present:
- Identity Verifying Documents A list of qualifying documents can be found by clicking HERE.
- Present acceptable School Enrollment Documentation, if under the age of 19. If you are currently attending school, most schools will have ALEA form DL-93 that can be completed for you. Applicants being instructed at home must provide ALEA's completed Home School affidavit.
Prepare for your visit to ALEA:

- Study for your test using the Alabama Driver License Manual.
- Make sure you have all Documents required by ALEA to take with you.
