We are now offering an online service that enables you to register a newly purchased vehicle from an Alabama dealer. This process requires a title application. If you are in possession of a title that needs to be processed, you will need to come into your local office.
If you have your title application, bill of sale, proof of Alabama insurance, and driver license for each owner, you may click the following link to register your vehicle online.

Most out of state dealers will send the necessary documents directly to the Baldwin County Probate Office. Once received, a license revenue officer will contact you with further instructions. You must go to the location that has the paperwork (Bay Minette, Fairhope, Robertsdale or Foley) to complete your transaction unless you make arrangements ahead of time to have it transferred to another location.

Administrative Rule 810-5-75.68 exempts vehicles 35 years or older from being titled in the State of Alabama however they do still have to be registered. Please bring the following:

A Low Speed Vehicle requires a 17 digit VIN. If a Low Speed Vehicle doesn't have a 17 digit VIN, it would be classified as a golf cart and is not eligible for registration.
Low Speed Vehicles that have been purchased new: Customer will need to bring a manufacturer certificate of origin (showing federal regulation qualifications), bill of sale, proof of Alabama insurance, and bring the LSV for inspection. The inspection will verify VIN number and Federal regulations stamp. Valid ID will be required. If owner cannot be present, a power of attorney form will be needed for whoever is handling the transaction.
Low Speed Vehicles that have been purchased used: Customer will need to bring bill of sale, proof of Alabama insurance, and bring the LSV for inspection. The inspection will verify the VIN number and Federal regulations stamp. Valid ID will be required. If owner cannot be present, a power of attorney form will be needed for whoever is handling the transaction.
Please note: If Federal regulations qualifications cannot be determined, LSV cannot be registered. Also, VIN inspection forms by law enforcement are not allowed. LSV's are required to be inspected by our office, in person.
Utility Trailer Information: Registration Fee: $12.00 (plus applicable ad valorem taxes)
Section 40-12-240 defines a utility trailer as a trailer primarily designed to be drawn by a passenger car or pickup truck, including but not limited to:

Please note: some specialty tags, including military, firefighter, realtor, fraternal order of police, etc require eligibility documentation in order to obtain them. Please visit the Alabama Department of Revenue for requirements.
